Description
A wonderful day on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, England. Portland Bill is a narrow promontory (or bill) of Portland stone. The lighthouse is at the most southerly part of the Isle. The Bill is an important way-point for the coasts traffic and the lighthouse was built to protect the shipping from strong tides and the shallow reefs and therefore potentially a life saver for shipping. Built in 1906 Portland Bill Lighthouse is 35m (115 ft) tall.
