Description
The claim to fame for Vicars' Close is that it is the oldest residential street in Europe. The buildings are said to date back to the mid 14th century. The farthest end of the terraced rows were set 10 feet closer together than the end the image is taken from. This was in order to make the terrace perspective look longer. Wells in Somerset is a great City to visit with lots of old buildings including The Bishop's Palace and the wonderful Cathedral....if you're in the area it's well worth taking the time to have a look around
